When people mispronounce your name, they almost always know better but do it anyway just to assert dominance and control. I had a particularly crazy and abusive 3rd grade teacher who would willfully mispronounce my name just to piss me off. When I complained, I got in trouble and she told me “It’s my classroom. I will say your name however I want to. I’ll paint the clasroom with polka dots or blow it up if I want to.” Make no doubt about it, this is a micro aggression that’s 100% intentional.
