This may be the biggest one in the US. Policies going back to the Reagan era stripped social support for parents, with many theorizing that the point was to make it harder for mothers to keep working. The goal may have been to force women back into the home by making them choose between motherhood or careers. It backfired, as many women opted out of having kids entirely, and American birth rates have steadily declined since then. Conservatives today still don’t get it and think they can force women to have kids and be dependent on men by stripping reproductive rights.
