And you’re not imagining the algorithm changes here. I noticed about a year ago that my articles were getting the same views, read time, and claps as they always had but the earnings had dropped by 90-95% in most cases. Articles with the exact same stats that previously would have made $60-120 over the first month were now pulling in $3-6. Some major writers like Shannon Ashley also called it out after noticing their earnings crashing unexpectedly. I’ll stick around as a reader here but I’m mostly done writing, because it’s not worth spending hours on something that might net 50 cents an hour at best.
