This is massively important and a lot of people are glossing over the fact that it wasn’t even 60 years ago that women literally had no choice other than to get married and become property of men, because they couldn’t even open a fucking bank account. If you didn’t have a wealthy family that left you a massive inheritance back then, the only two options were to be financially dependent on a husband, or try your best to find a job that paid in cash under the table and a living situation that would accept it. Women in the 60s couldn’t even just stay abstinent and avoid marriage if they didn’t want to be homeless and destitute. I’m terrified to even think about it, but convinced this is the real end goal conservatives want.
