This is completely incorrect. SSRIs are known, and backed up by empirical evidence, to cause moderate to severe withdrawal in people who don’t slowly taper off. While it’s not life threatening, many people describe it as worse than opioid withdrawal. If a person really needs them and they help, this isn’t a reason to avoid taking them, but it’s irresponsible to lie about it.
