This is absolutely my worst nightmare, and similar to my experience in so many white collar jobs. I’ve found that it’s rare to have more than 2 hours of actual work per day in many office jobs, and even that’s if you work as slowly as possible. The pandemic was my breaking point, where I saw the possibilities of a mass remote work revolution. I absolutely REFUSE to ever go back to an office at this point, and I don’t care how much they want to pay me to do so. I will never again spend a single day of my life sitting at a desk and pretending to look busy. People can say I’m lazy or don’t want to work, or whatever they want, but the truth is the exact opposite: I don’t want to get paid to be stuck somewhere, not working.
