There is a town named Kermit in West Virginia with a population of around 300. In a 5 year period, around 30 million pills were sold by just 3 pharmacies in this area. People would drive from halfway across the US to these pill mills, where they would have to wait in lines that stretched outside of the city to get their oxycontin. The pharmaceutical manufacturer kept sending them pills and nobody questioned why they needed so many. It took 6 years for the DEA to shut it down.
