There is a big difference between family members who voted for Trump but otherwise politely keep politics to themselves, and ones who have become hateful and outspoken about it. For some of us, spending time with family but having to listen to conspiracy theories and hate speech towards minorities the entire time isn’t worth the cost to our mental health.
