The other problem with crisis services that prevent people from getting help is that the inpatient “help” they receive is a joke. They force antidepressants and sedatives on everybody as soon as they get through the door without so much as an assessment, followed by sessions with a bored looking therapist who offers nothing but superficial platitudes, worthless breathing exercises, or gaslighting about needing to change their thoughts and perceptions. Most people I know who have been through inpatient crisis treatment got nothing out of it but additional trauma, and learning to convincingly fake feeling better out of fear of being put through the same thing again.
