People in manual labor jobs often wish they worked in an air conditioned office, but I’ve been on both sides and have never been more miserable than in office jobs. There is no hell like only having an hour of real work but being stuck there for 8-9, slowly watching your life pass, minute by minute. The worst part is the lack of privacy in an average cubicle or open office. The second you try to do something productive like taking an online class or reading a book, a manager will come out of the woodworks and yell at you for time theft. This is how you get punished in the white collar world for being productive and doing your work quickly. Even if you’re salaried, they still act as if they own 8 hours of your time every day.
