People are no longer willing to put up with abuse from managers, regardless of the pay. I’ve turned down STEM positions that paid much more than $17 an hour because of unnecessarily degrading and abusive conditions I would have been expected to put up with. I don’t know how previous generations were manipulated into believing that taking abuse is a normal work condition, but I’m happy that millennials and Gen Z are taking a stand and demanding to be treated with dignity.
