I’ve never seen somebody outright ghost their spouse and family, but have absolutely seen enough men blindside their wives with divorce papers out of nowhere to believe it happens.

One of the biggest reasons I’ve never wanted kids is because I’ve seen so many conservative men aggressively demand their wives quit working and stay at home to raise the kids, only to up and abandon them a decade later, leaving them with 4 kids to support on no education, work history, or marketable skills.

I’ve seen men serve divorce papers without any kind of warning, pack their shit, and then be moved out and living with a 21-year old girlfriend less than a week later. I’ve seen many of the same men quit their jobs after leaving and exclusively take on cash-only sources of income in an effort to avoid child support. I’ve seen it happen the week before Christmas, and in another case, a few days before the wife’s birthday. I’ve seen this happen to women in my childhood church who did everything they were told to do, and still ended up being blamed for “not picking a Godly enough man”, and I’ve been in many community college classes with women in this boat who were heartbroken and desperately trying to find a way of supporting the several kids they were abandoned with.

It should be an IMMEDIATE red flag if you have a male partner that insists upon you becoming dependent on him. People who aren’t abusive or controlling don’t care if you have a job or are financially independent from them.
