I’ve lived in Northern California for over a decade and have been absolutely heartbroken to see San Francisco morph into a corporate, dystopian hellscape in that time. All the small local businesses are being replaced by chains and fast food restaurants. Even many of the nicer restaurants and stores that are artfully designed to look like local businesses are corporate chains. I am devastated that my significant other who is from Southern California will never see the San Francisco that I once fell in love with, as it’s lost all of its magic and charm.
