It’s a good idea to find another source of income that you have full control over. On platforms like this, you can never know when the algorithm is going to change.

I’ve been on Medium since 2018, and remember a time when you could spend a few hours working on a well-thought out piece with 14-16 minute read time, and easily get $120 over the first month after publishing. Something changed about a year ago, and suddenly my articles had the exact same metrics in terms of read time and claps, but I was making $3-6 an article.

At this point, I’m still here because I enjoy reading other articles, but don’t have plans to publish very much, if at all. There are better ways to make money, and our labor is worth more than 50 cents an hour.
