Psychedelics are Medicine

I truly felt the pain when reading these stories. Once upon a time, I wanted to become a doctor and improve the quality of life for people, but medical school is the exact same, designed for success of the financially privileged to the exclusion of everyone else. MCAT prep programs that cost thousands, exam fees, more thousands just to apply to schools and then travel to be interviewed by admissions. Then you go 6 figures into debt so you can work 80 hour weeks and make $40,000 a year as a resident physician.

The only people who want to do it anymore aren’t people whose passion was medicine, but rich kids who don’t even care about it other than being pushed into it by their parents. Think about that the next time you have a bad experience with a doctor that isn’t listening or barely spends more than 5 minutes in the office with you.
