I genuinely hoped the pandemic would be the push we needed to embrace remote work for good, that many of us would finally get the work-life balance that we are literally dying for. But my hopes have been smashed as I watch people go back to their cubicles without even trying to fight.

It’s been 8 months since I quit my last normal job after they demanded I go into an office. I thought it would be easy to find another remte position with a master’s degree, but there’s nothing out there. I’ve been doing a bunch of freelance hustles and surviving, but the stress is definitely wearing away at me. And I do miss having a regular paycheck and benefits. I just feel like I’m not cut out for our society.
