I believe this is a myth that the media pushes, to make it seem more palatable to society. That and the people who are childfree because of climate change, who are also pretty rare. It also implies that many of us could or will change our minds given a change to our finances, or paints us in a light of pity as sad people who want kids but just can’t afford them. And I resent the media for this conditional acceptance pf being childfree, just as much as I hate seeing outright negative articles about us.

Out of all the people I know who are childfree, myself included, zero would change their minds if financial stress wasn’t in the picture, and only two don’t want kids because of ecological reasons.
