All true. A lot of Reddit users migrated to a website called Voat after several Reddit communities were shut down a couple years ago. But they quickly found out that because Voat was completely unrestricted, it was an absolute cesspool as you describe. You could make a post asking about something like a kratom vendor, and would get spammed by at least a couple responses about nazi stuff and conspiracy theories.
